The Horison Hotel, Seminyak where we stayed for 2 nights offered the guests several Balinese cultural experiences. One of them was a free photo session for the guests wearing the Balinese costumes provided by the hotel and taken photos by a hotel photographer.
That’s Great! All of us, eight women from the Japan Travel Writers’ Organization, of course were excited to take this opportunity, wanting to be photographed all together at the same time. However we were informed they could only take 4 guests, because they didn’t have enough costumes in stock. We were a bit disappointed, but agreed to have two sessions for different groups.
Next morning, on our arrival at the lobby, a big surprise was waiting. The hotel staff made special efforts to get enough costumes for everyone so that we could take a whole group photo as we had wanted originally. We were dressed and made up one by one by the skillful hotel staff. Voila! Eight Balinese dancers from Japan were born.
Thanks to the willingness to please guests, shown by the hotel, our beautiful trip to Bali has become even more beautiful and memorable. Through their outstanding hospitality, we believe we did touch the loving heart and spirit of the Balinese people.
